My navel orange is inedible .. barely get a few drops of juice out of it . It is nearly white when cut open , and I tried fruit when green as well as waiting until they turned orange . I was already on the block when I bought , along with several bush lemons a Meyer ,Lisbon and an enormous grapefruit. All the other citrus are juicy as , what could be the problem ?

Hi tr, from memory you are fairly far up north, if that is so both L. Glowinski and S. Lyle say that Navels don't really colour up in the tropics so perhaps they are well past their best when you pick them, try picking them even earlier in the green stage. S. Lyle also says navels don't really like it up there. Another possibility is that it is seed grown and just not a good orange.

Hi tr,
Sounds like the soil around the orange tree lacks boron (borax). Give it a handfull to the sq.metre. Also, I'd give it some epsom salts (this will sweeten the fruit), sulphate of potash, blood & bone or dynamic lifter plus fertilizer, some dolomite and gypsum, lot's of old cow manure, (eg moo poo), plenty of mulch on top of all this, out to, or past the dripline, but keep it away from the tree trunk, and water this in. That should fix it.
