Sorry - not sure if my original post above had the photos of the fruit trees attached. Hopefully they now are. Lydia

Could someone also help me with identifying the attached tree please? I have a couple on the property and while the fruit sort of resemble plums they dont taste very nice. (The tree I am referring to is in the forefront of the photo). thanks

That is an absolutely gigantic davidsons plum. Not toxic and the fruit are edible but sour as hell. Make extraordinarily good jam. There are two forms of it I believe but I couldn't Tell you the difference. Mike t will probably know when he logs on.

Beautiful Davidson's Plum. In clearings like that they often get a bit bushy, but that one is very nice. They also make a potent liquor. I'd call it the ultimate palate cleanser as its so sharp it could clean durian from your palette in no time flat!

Man, I love this forum! I was going to make jam but the liquor sounds more fun. If you have a recipe/method that would be even better. Thanks for all, your help.

There are a few Nth Qld Davidsonias in Bellingen, often to do with the Doctor who planted them years ago.
Yes, fantastic jam, equal to Prunus blood plum, and supposed to make a good dry red wine.
