Help - Pomegranate: Pest, disease, or deficiency ?

    4 responses

Hi everyone... some help to diagnose my Pomegranate ...

Photo one shows the front side of the leaves (the two outer leaves - the one in the middle is the underside of the leaf). There are quite noticable yellow spots and some darker yellow spots.
In photo two (the under side of the leaves) the colour comes through slightly but it is not indented (like a shot hole or sucker).
The discolouring is only on 10% of the tree at the moment.
It is potted in good quality potting mix, mulched well, and not over or under watered. Its diet over the last 6 weeks includes some Seafeed (fortnightly), potash (once), and dynamic lifter (citrus and fruit applied a few weeks ago).
It is positioned in full sun and appears to be quite happy apart from the scattering of discoloured leaves. There is a picture of my pomegranate on my 'edibles' page.

Thankyou

I'm still worried about my pomegranate so I took a leaf sample to the horticulturist at my local nursery and they had not seen this before. He suggested that it ''could'' be a fungus... because there is no sign of suckering, but it doesn't look like a fungus as it appears to be inside the leaf, like the colour is leaching out. He didn't think it was a deficiency or fertiliser issue.

Anyone have any other ideas...

I thought anthracnose at first Mish but am leaning toward mildew, I had a similar looking problem in my garden.

"Mildew is controlled with a Copper based fungicide like Cuprox or Copper oxychloride . Spray every seven days until controlled. Mildew is also an indication the soil is lacking Potash apply a dressing of Sulphate of Potash"

I hope you get it sorted out soon
