Maria961 starts with ... Hi everyone, About 2 months ago I had bought a few papaya and decided to plant the seeds instead of throwing them out. I took the gel case off and allowed them to dry, then planted them a couple of mm under the soil as indicated online. This little plant has been growing and I've allowed to to grow to see what happens, but I'm unsure if it is a weed? My partner tells me I'm growing a weed but I want to keep it fed in case it is papaya. Any thoughts on the matter?

David01 says... Hi Maria961, Yes, it looks like a weed to me. Papaya seed needs to be planted immediately after you remove the gel. If you let it dries out the chance to germinate is very slim or none. Another important factor is the temperature, 2 months ago it was winter, the chance to germinate the papaya seed in winter is also very slim.
