Can anyone help me!!!???? I have a permaculture type property next to cool temperate rainforest in Gippsland, and next to farmland as well. I want to plant comfrey, but cannot find any bocking type sterile comfrey in Australia. There are warnings that true comfrey will spread into bushland. A neighbour grows comfrey here, and says it has not spread anywhere in decades. Does anyone have any experience of this??? Of growing comfrey near bushland, especially down south??? Please help! Hi Nullani, love to help you with your comfrey needs - have been growing Bocking 14 for five years on my island farm and just started selling plants and comfrey oils/creams at Berwick Farmers Market on 4th saturdays.
Does not spread on my property and see no reason why it should on yours.
Grows very well in our temperate climate.
Diggers does not sell plants but you can buy seed variety.

Hi All,

I am also after some Comfrey bocking 14 cuttings. Unfortunately diggers does not have them available till Sep 17. Can anyone help me out to get some plants started before then. I am willing to pay for your time.

Cheers, Hayden

I have comfrey growing at the base of my fruit trees plus as a brder to lawn area...it does spread but slowly and still within the plant itself.I have never had any spread from the area it was planted..it simply enlarges over time like a tree but at ground level...mine is Russian comfrey i think-with the pink flower...it came as a rootling originally five years ago but is still entirely in control.I have to say it makes a great border as no weeds enter the herbaceous beds from the lawn through it...and the mower keeps it in check on the lawn side.
