Wayne says... Hello Harro As far as the mangoes go, they must be fully mature before you pick them. We pick our's green but mature because of the fruit fly and flying foxes. Harro starts with ... I have about ten mangoes and Iam not sure when to pick them, some are quite big but still hard. My problem is we are going away for ten days next week so do I pick them and put them inside or take the risk the birds don't get them or whatever. Also I have two huge nectarines on my Sunset Dwarf Nectarine they are also very firm Do I pick the those. Michael says... I picked all my mangoes as soon as they have a red tinge. If you leave it in a bowl for a few more days after that then it should be ready to eat. If you leave it any longer on the tree then the fruit fly and bats will get to it . Otherwise try to bag it. Cathy says... I pick my mangoes when green, to prevent them from being eaten by fruit bats and I find they ripen very well when just left in the fruit bowl. It may take up to a week and they are ripe even if they don't turn yellow. They taste DELICIOUS!
