Medjool date

Hi, we would love to try growing 2 medjool date palms here in the mid - Blue Mountains but are unsure how you harvest them once they get up to 5-10 metres? Not sure how you can reach them at this height?
Thanks

Train your great-grandchildren from birth to climb the date palms you plant today, and if they keep up the tradition, their great-grandchildren might be able to climb your trees when they reach 5 metres in the Blue Mountains climate.

The base of each frond has spikes, so you dont want to climb the tree or use ladders etc. The bunch of fruit is on a stalk, you could use a hand pole saw to cut the stalk from below. You may need other poles to hold the date bunch so it doesn't fall and shatter.

Thanks very much for your advice! Hadn't thought about using a hand pole - good idea.
