Asimili starts with ... Having read about very difficult plants to propagate by cuttings ,such as blueberries , the answer appears to be the application of bottom heat and misting .. but there does not seem to be an off the shelf product to do this . I could , in all likelihood , devise a system but unsure if the effort is justified. Has anyone have | About the Author Asimili sYDNEY 25th May 2015 10:09am #UserID: 11793 Posts: 15 View All Asimili's Edible Fruit Trees |
echinopora says... go on ebay and buy a heating coil and a reptile thermostat. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/REPTILE-HEAT-CABLE-HEATING-CORD-4-5M-25W-/231176452124?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item35d330b81c http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LED-AU-Plug-Reptile-Snake-Timer-Aquarium-Digital-Temp-Controller-Heat-Thermostat-/161453724145?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item25976451f1 or if you are a little more adventurous with your chinese electrical that might be exposed to moisture.... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-X-Large-16-x11-20W-Reptile-Lizard-Snake-Seeds-Heating-Mat-With-Thermostat-/231545809446?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item35e934aa26 I always see misting kits for patios with brass fittings in the clearance bins at bunnings, keep an eye out for them there. jakfruit etiquette says... For small scale set ups you often dont need misters. Placing your cuttings / seeds in a pot, then covering with a plastic bag or PET bottle will usually work well. If you set it up in a position that gets enough sun/shade to get good temp for root development you may get away without bottom heat at most times of year. Small heat pads can be found at beer brewers shops, ie for heating a 20litre vat. If your not into home brewing, hydroponic shops have a range of small scale equipment, often with a free reggae cd. | About the Author jakfruit etiquette vic 25th May 2015 12:57pm #UserID: 5133 Posts: 915 View All jakfruit etiquette's Edible Fruit Trees |

Asimili says... Sure you can do the PET bottle routine . Even first year police recruits know about it. But it is the hard ones like cherimoya and blueberry that need bottom heat/misting You can bet Daleys use that method for blueberries. Interested in Bunnings misters ....Why would people want misters on patios? | About the Author Asimili sYDNEY 25th May 2015 5:15pm #UserID: 11793 Posts: 15 View All Asimili's Edible Fruit Trees |
Markmelb says... Heres a couple good videos of building a heated mist bench - I had a simple one in early 80s using a see saw switch that turned on mist when it dried out - would love to have it again but i do the drink bottle trick and a warm window sill and still works for me. You couls easily source bits and use brewing heat pads or straps. I am using such to keep my Sapodilla and Jackfruit warm this year linked to a thermostat that clicks in at 8C and doesnt cost much to run at all as it may only turn on at 3am some nites. Last week kept it running till 10am brrrrrr. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rf36owOCjPw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7roZsfxmplI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJyOUzyMRrU | About the Author Markmelb MT WAVERLEY,3149,VIC 25th May 2015 6:26pm #UserID: 7785 Posts: 1192 View All Markmelb's Edible Fruit Trees |

echinopora says... The transformation of liquid water to water vapour requires energy. Misters provide an ideal environment for evaporation, increased droplet surface area and airflow. The evaporation of water droplets pull energy from the surrounding air resulting in a drop in ambient temperature. It is the same concept that allows us to cool ourselves with sweating. The effect works best in dry air, which is why it is harder to cool down in high humidity. | About the Author terranora 26th May 2015 9:42pm #UserID: 10023 Posts: View All 's Edible Fruit Trees |
