GardenAddict starts with ... I am in South East Queensland and have a plum tree that is about 6 months old. The huge amount of rain has been great for some of our fruit trees and not so good for others This plum tree is having a very had time. It has a clear, jelly type substance on it. Mostly on the ends of the branches but now it's hard to tell if it's oozed down or if it's all over the tree. There is so much there are now patches of it on the ground around it, in marble sized lumps. It looks like the tree is dying. Does any one know what it is and what to do? And should we pull the tree out and get it out of or orchard so it doesn't infect other trees? Any help would be appreciated! | About the Author GardenAddict BRISBANE,4510,QLD 15th May 2022 6:32pm #UserID: 24985 Posts: 1 View All GardenAddict's Edible Fruit Trees |

jakfruit etiquette says... Sounds like gummosis...caused by an infection usually on stressed trees. It might ease off if the stress goes away. Sometimes borers also cause sap oozing, but yours sounds like all over, so probably infection. Its pretty common, so you should find answers to treat it. As far as I know it mainly attacks stone fruit trees, should not spread to non related trees. | About the Author jakfruit etiquette MERBEIN,3505,VIC 16th May 2022 9:05pm #UserID: 5133 Posts: 915 View All jakfruit etiquette's Edible Fruit Trees |
