sternus1 starts with ... Tony Abbott's new Metadata retention Laws mean that your browsing session duration and bandwidth usuage will be stored for two years. Well, that's if you're a dinosaur and don't know how to use a VPN, anyway. So basically, the Abbott Government is going to spend about 100 million--YOUR money, that is--to catch a handful of low-lifes who are computer illiterate, and in the process will fundamentally erode your privacy and anonymity online and pave the way for ever-increasing access to your personal information and browsing habit for corporations. http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2014/10/australias-mandatory-metadata-retention-legislation-everything-you-need-to-know/ | About the Author sternus1 Australia 25th November 2014 8:26pm #UserID: 8314 Posts: 1318 View All sternus1's Edible Fruit Trees |

VF says... Bah! Both mainstream parties are two sides of the same coin. Bills/Acts don't get passed unless relative unilateral agreement. There are a few parliamentarians with integrity, but sadly not enough of them. The freedoms we have are all an illusion anyway. Try doing anything without some form of government documentation to identify you, namely birth certificate. Needed for every other 'right' we have. No licences (any), no insurance, no banking, registration etc. Sure, you can say that it's so others can know who you are and your identity isn't used falsely. Load of BS! Those who want to fraudulently create false images of themselves always find ways of doing so. When I meet someone, me personally giving my every day name is enough. Australia is a wonderful country, but it has always taken a form of a police nation (convict dumping ground to present day system). Those without 'legitimate' id (historically indigenous peoples, today still some indigenous, nonconformists, some immigrants) don't have same rights. BTW, don't forget the Australia Card, first espoused by Hawke and cronies, then by Howard and his regime: would have been a nice centralized tracking tool. Thankfully the nation outright rejected it, but as per original post of Sternus, a more subtle and subversive introduction happening and most people not aware. Sad and worrying! Srt may be more correct than some realize. | About the Author VF WONGAWALLAN,4210,QLD 3rd December 2014 8:38am #UserID: 6795 Posts: 736 View All VF's Edible Fruit Trees |
