Overwintering banans

Hi
Has anyone had experience with overwintering bananas by cutting the leaves off, and wrapping the stem and top with bubble wrap?
Based here at Swan Hill, on the Victorian/ NSW border, and we have some frosts in winter.
Cheers.

Hi SpongeBob,

It makes no difference if you wrap or uncover the banana as the new leaves will be emerged when the weather improves. I have 6 bananas different CVs. Most leaves rot and drop but they recover quickly next season (around October). Many years ago I tried to cover the top of plant and fruits during winter but it didn't help as temp drop to below 10C the root system stop functioning which let leaves and fruits to rot if winter last more than 2-3 months. Cheers

Ive read of people growing Bananas in Chicago and they wrap their plant in Rockwool Bats and it seems it stops frost burn and gets them through their snowy winters but you would still need to have close to house?
