Pheromone Strips in Apples for coling moth

Hi All, I placed Codling Moth Pheromone strips in all my apples to deter the moths but I see all my apples are infested with Codling moth again. Any one had success with the strips? I still have a dozen in the freezer for next year but wonder if they are really doing any good?
The two big apples are in the chookyard and running chooks under them didn't help hence the strips this year.(I don't think the chooks read the book that says they eat the larvae!)
