Newbie to gardening starts with ...
I am looking for a fruit tree that is not an apple tree to cross pollinate a granny smith. Are there any pears that are suitable or any other options?

You can't pollinate Malus with Pyrus.
If it helps, I was told that the crabapple variety "e;golden hornet"e; is a near-universal pollinator for Malus species. I did get one, but it has been overgrown with other trees long since, so I can't attest to the truth of it.
