Are the roots invasive around a pool area and can the apple tree be planted in a pot and if so, what pot size would be suitable?

I have a lot of plants in pots, but they never touch the ground. They are all raised on bricks or slabs to prevent the roots going into the ground. This can happen with any plant

Alternatively, roots can go up into the pot from surrounding trees. Either way, keep your tree off the ground.
