Scott G starts with ... If you know your stuff then Bunnings may have most of what you are after. If you don't know everything about all the trees you want then I strongly recommend thoroughly researching suitable varieties. Time and effort spent doing that now will be well rewarded in the future. Failure to do so may result in years of plant growth wasted when it turns out the variety was unsuitable. Be sure to research avocados that are suitable for the 'back yard'. | About the Author Scott G Gold Coast 16th January 2008 1:25pm #UserID: 44 Posts: 117 View All Scott G's Edible Fruit Trees |

Correy says... Hi Jane, Here is a list of Fruit Tree Retailers that come highly recommended. If you were going to mail order them through daleys nursery here are some varieties that may suit. Glen Mango Tree - Because the flavour is the best and it has creamy flesh. (I was just eating one then from our tree and it is far better then any you will buy in the shops) Salathiel Lychee Tree - This one has the smallest seed. Southern Red Bisexual Paw Paw Secondo Avocado - Possible to get fruit in the second year and it a great tasting variety. Freight for ipswich for 1 box of plants will cost $28.54. I would recommend also purchasing the Raspberry Heritage (popular for ipswich) so that handling is free. The below picture is of the secondo avocado.

Correy says... Hi Leona we can mail order fruit trees to Western Australia although the freight and DPI spraying is a bit more expensive. We have had quite a good response from you guys over in WA and are getting better at preparing them for the journey :) | About the Author Correy Woolloongabba, QLD 16th January 2008 8:49pm #UserID: 3 Posts: 493 View All Correy's Edible Fruit Trees |

Jane says... Thank you all for your suggestions and advice. I am taking my time researching what will be suitable for our backyard as you can imagine I would like to get it right first time round :) Correy, are all those varieties you mentioned suitable for backyards? We will be moving to Browns Plains too, so will that Raspberry Heritage be suitable for that area? Thanks again. | About the Author JanesGarden Ipswich 19th January 2008 8:46am #UserID: 566 Posts: 1 View All JanesGarden's Edible Fruit Trees |

Correy says... Hi Jane, I have a Raspberry in Woolloongabba, QLD, Au and it is just getting it's first flowers after about 9 months. Those varieties would be my favourite pick for a Brisbane backyard. Here is a list for Browns Plains most popular fruit trees - Make sure you select Surrounding Suburbs to get better results. | About the Author Correy Woolloongabba, QLD 19th January 2008 9:34am #UserID: 3 Posts: 493 View All Correy's Edible Fruit Trees |
