jensen starts with ... Two questions: 1. Something is eating leaves or parts of leaves on my citrus trees. There are no insects when I look. -Should I suspect grasshoppers? 2. I think there are 'recipes' for home-made sprays based on potassium soap - which I guess is not too poisonous - do you have a recipe. ... -or does one just dissolve soap and spray? (And I think I have been told not to use sodium soap, because one does not want sodium in the garden. ...) jensen | About the Author jensen innisfal 4th September 2017 4:41am #UserID: 16572 Posts: 16 View All jensen's Edible Fruit Trees |
BJ11 says... There are several sprays you could try ... 1. 4:1 vegetable oil and dishwashing detergent or white-oil. (This will cover some insects like aphids and suffocate them) 2. blended chilli mixed in water (with a few drops of dish washing liquid to emulsify the chilli oil) 3. blended caterpillars (as even caterpillars can be a little put off by trying to eat around their peers) 4. Encourage lady bugs and praying mantis with flowers to attract them (because they are your desired predators) Good luck | About the Author BJ11 KENSINGTON,3031,VIC 4th September 2017 9:09pm #UserID: 3414 Posts: 215 View All BJ11's Edible Fruit Trees |
