denise1 says... First clean up the affected area and wrap it with plumbers tape or grafting tape. The inner bark can sometimes regenerate if done quickly and you could be surprised. Cut back the tree quite a bit to avoid drying out. paint any pruning cuts with water based paint and cover tree with shade cloth or frost cloth if possible. Most important is to avoid sunshine heating up the taped area too much It is possible to make bridging grafts made from stems that will become the new sap pathway. If you cant do the grafts straight away, then at least tape it up. Do not delay. | About the Author denise1 auckland NZ 15th October 2019 4:34pm #UserID: 6832 Posts: 688 View All denise1's Edible Fruit Trees |

jakfruit etiquette says... Yes it depends how wide the ring barking was or if its all around ie ringed or one side only. Many trees are cinctured ie thin ringbark to help fruiting, so a thin ring may not be too bad. If the callous can grow back on a bigger wound it might recover. Denise1 has great advice. You might be able to use twigs from above tree for bridge grafts. | About the Author jakfruit etiquette vic 17th October 2019 7:26am #UserID: 5133 Posts: 915 View All jakfruit etiquette's Edible Fruit Trees |
