I have a black sapote, it gets covered in flowers, however only gets about 5 fruits on it. It is about two metres tall and about 2 meters wide. About 4 years old. I have just planted another black sapote close by so hopefully will get more fruit from the cross pollination. So it is very hit and miss with one plant.

It varies tree to tree. Most seedlings I would say need cross-pollination.
