Fruitylicious1 says... Hi GG Avocado trees are known to be very sensitive to salinity especially to chloride . Certain avocado race is more sensitive to salinity than other guacamole cultivar being Mexican the least tolerant of salt, Guatemalan is next and the most tolerant is west Indian variety. So if your avo is grafted to a Mexican rootstock it will be more susceptible to saline conditions than the other two rootstock. One of the telltale sign of saline toxicity is tip burn on the leaves of affected plants which you have observed. If in doubt have your water bore checked for saline contents. Salinity can cause plants to succumbed. To address the issue, if you happen to have a water tank use rainwater instead, if not use town water. Overwater the plants affected to flushed out the excess salt and desist from using the bore water if it proved to be the cause. Happy gardening ๐ | About the Author Fruitylicious1 TAMWORTH,2340,NSW 26th January 2020 6:30pm #UserID: 16885 Posts: 709 View All Fruitylicious1's Edible Fruit Trees |
