Which apple?

Hi Folks,
I 'm after some opinions. I already have Pinkabelle and Granny Smith apples and I'm looking to extend my fruiting season by getting some REALLY early fruiters. I know the Dorset and Anna will fruit here in Sydney as I've met someone in Glossodia who has them . He tells me he has no problems with pests as they are so early!
I'm trying to decide between the Golden Dorset, Tropic Anna and Tropic Sweet.I LOVE the Pinkladys but I've never liked the store bought Delicious apples as I've always found then to be floury. I suspect this might be because they are generally old in the store?? or are they just a bit floury? Can someone tell me what a 'freshly picked' one tastes like? I'm hoping someone will be able to give me a comparison 'taste' for the Tropic Sweet as the listing does say the others are like their cold climate relatives (ie the regular delicious apples)
Thanks in advance!

hi Linda,

a Delicious is normally sweet and slightly tangy/tart (less tart than a granny) with a wonderful juicy crunch. they were my fav as a child. the Tropical Anna is supposed to be a warm weather variant of the Delicious, and they're very similar in taste and texture. a floury Delicious would be old stock in cold storage too long or possibly a mislabeled Jonathan. I always considered Jonathan apples soft and sort of floury.

maybe delay your decision for a couple of months, as the tropic annas and sweets will be fruiting around December. do the rounds of some farmer's markets etc to find some of these apples to taste - and then decide.
