WHITE SAPOTE/CASIMIROA MAXIMUM YIELD IN KG/LBS?

How many fruit and kg/lbs have you achieved in one season with your baby brother White Sapote/Casimiroa?

Me: 'Pike'; 2015 Dec 16 to May 12 2016; 855 fruit x estimated/est. average of 180 grams = est. 154 kg.

Me: 2016 (Oct ?) to (June ? 2017) Estimated 10,000 fruit! at September 16 2016 x estimated 180 grams = 1.8 tons!

Any questions, anyone?

"White sapotes are medium to large-sized, fast growing trees with aggressive spreading roots that help them withstand periods of drought.

Mature trees can reach 15 to 18 m in height and produce 900 kg (2,000 lb.) of fruit per year.

Thompson, (1972) reported a tree of 'Chestnut' produced nearly 2,700 kg (6,000 lb.) of fruit in 1971 in Vista, California.

Grafted trees remain smaller and develop a better canopy than seedlings.

Wow health101orgarticles1!

I'm astounded ... from Dec 16 2015 to May 12 2016 you actually counted 855 fruit. That's dedication to statistics right there!

But I don't understand your next estimation of 10,000 fruit for Oct 2016 to June 2017. I figure you are estimating next season's harvest in terms of weight, but the figure is about 10 times the amount of the previous year.

If I was to extrapolate the 2015 - 2016 (5 month period) fruit count of 855 to a 2016 - 2017 (6 month period) I would estimate around 1,000 fruit, rather than 10,000. That figure would yield 180 kg rather than 1.8 ton (which is in better alignment with last season's data). Although, if they are capable of producing 900 kg of fruit per year, then 180 kg must be from a tree that is still developing to full maturity (assuming we neglect growing conditions). So let's assume your tree is still growing and will be capable of producing more fruit in its next season and bump up the fruit estimate to 1250 - 1500. That would yield a seasonal crop of 225 - 270 kg.

Did an extra zero work its way into your fruit estimation?

It's amazing how much material a tree can extract from the ground and pump out into fruit, is it?
