Yellow leaves

I purchased several Ruby red Grapefruit trees from you and although they are fruiting well, I cannot get rid of the yellow leaves - as pictured. I tried several different fertilizers and added extra P and K to no avail. Some suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi Space,

although you didn't attach pictures, yellowing of the leaves is almost always caused by either a lack of some trace mineral, or from over/under watering.

So, first check if the grapefruit are in poor draining soil or if in pots that they don't dry out.

If that doesn't work, check the mineral composition of the fertilisers you used and see if any important minerals have been left out e.g. iron, magnesium etc. Generally if it is a mineral related problem it will only affect a particular part of the leaf. if the entire leaf is yellow it is unlikely to be a deficiency problem.

Regards,
Pademelon1

Hi Space

If there is no visible pest and diseases affecting your precious grape vines and you have tried most soil amendments in the shelf I think it would be better to have your soil and plant tissue analyzed by professionals to ascertain the exact deficiency if any in your plants and soil. With an accurate soil and tissue analysis you can then tailor the soil additives or foliar spray according to the lab result to correct the jaundice like leaf color.

Basic soil analysis will set you back $79.20 inc GST and complete plant tissue analysis will cost you $61.88 inc GST. Visit APAL Agricultural Lab for more details.

Happy Gardening :-)
