Young Lemons Turned Dark

Hello all. My meter lemon tree is quite healthy and has recently flowered like crazy. A lot of the fruit has turned a dark colour, I wouldn't call it black though. It didn't do this last time, last time it dropped all but three lemons which grew to an edible size. I am wondering if this is a problem, but I will also note that this is a very similar colour to the colour that the new leaves of the tree are, the leaves grow in quite dark and strange looking before growing into a healthy green so I'm also thinking this may just be a characteristic of the tree?
