Ants in nectarine fruit - John, I think you may have caterpillar damage. I have the same problem - immature fruit with skin eaten off. Your picture is exactly the same as my damage. I looked on the underside of leaves in the area and found one caterpillar - I think it is a looper..5571 days 23hrs
