Josy starts with ... G'day We are thinking that, in approximately 3 to 4 years time, after completing our All Over Australia Travelling Working Adventure, we will return to live on our rural property at Glenugie near South Grafton. Prior to setting off again, we have been planting various shrubs, trees and so on with the anticipation they will survive with the help from our daughters caring fingers. Being ex poms there are some fruits I would like to plant but am not confident the sub tropics of Grafton is a good place to attempt to raise such items. Currents and Gooseeberries are 2 in question. But then there is also the good old rhubarb. My husband isn't keen on the rhubarb taste as he finds it dry and lacks sweetness. Is there one available that would suit his taste buds please. What do you reckon? Should I forget about planting such things in this climate? If any or all have a positive response from you can you add some advise as well please. Last but not least......Tomatoes!! We really like them but unfortunately with my Diverticular problem I have been advised not to eat pips and seeds such as that which Tomatoes contain. Due to all things that are created these days I am compelled to ask you if there are any Tomatoes which we can grow ourselves that are seedless? Very many thanks in advance for your co-operation in these matters. Are you the same Daleys who are/were at Galston, Dural I think it was? Firefly says... Re the tomatoes, you could try Hungarian Heart from Diggers. https://secure.diggersgardenclub.com.au/pc-1047-39-tomato-hungarian-heart.aspx Haven't tried it myself, but it appears to be solid flesh with few if any seeds. | About the Author Penrith NSW 11th February 2009 10:50pm #UserID: 0 Posts: View All 's Edible Fruit Trees |

Alexa says... There are a lot of tomato growers at the OZgrow forum, I'm sure someone would know of a good one for your situation. There are veggie growers up north there too who could help you with your other questions. www.ozgrow.com | About the Author Alexa Melbourne 12th February 2009 11:10am #UserID: 1851 Posts: 10 View All Alexa's Edible Fruit Trees |
