Paul starts with ... I have two 7 year old Bacon trees and again they are in full flower (September) like every year. In the last two years I have had around 100 fruit slightly larger than golf balls. In mid/late December when the heat comes in all the fruit dops off. I might have 1-2 fruit left which has not fallen off. Last year I watered both trees 3 times daily and had plenty of mulch nd still the fruit dropped off. Need advice as it's really upsetting to see this many fruit fall off at that size. Need a action plan before December :) | About the Author Paul kalamunda 16th September 2014 9:57pm #UserID: 10517 Posts: 1 View All Paul's Edible Fruit Trees |
Jason says... I get a major fruit drop on heavily loaded trees (like my good Hass) at that time of year and that size fruit. I really don't believe it's anything to do with heat, it seems more a natural balancing of the crop. But I don't loose all but 1 or 2. If I have a crop of 500 it might drop 100 or 200 small fruit and keep the rest. | About the Author Jason Portland 17th September 2014 9:03pm #UserID: 637 Posts: 1217 View All Jason's Edible Fruit Trees |
