Bessie starts with ... We planted a fuerte avocado last year where we have other successful avocado trees growing. It died. I have just watched your video We don't live there so were unable to water it regularly and it died. Would it have been better to grow it in a pot until it grew bigger? I would be grateful for some tips, as the other avocado trees are old and I would like to plant some new ones (that survive!) | About the Author Molly Windsor 4030 22nd January 2016 5:19pm #UserID: 13136 Posts: 4 View All Molly's Edible Fruit Trees |
Brendan says... Yes Bessie, growing avos in a large pot helps. In the US, you can buy avos in large wooden pots, about 600 x 600mm square by about 500mm high (I think they charge around $150 ea), but they have a great success rate when planted out. Also, some are so big, they actually have fruit already on them :-) I'm having a win with my Lamb Hass avo tree. Seems very hardy, even up here! | About the Author Brendan Mackay,Q 31st January 2016 12:02pm #UserID: 1947 Posts: 1722 View All Brendan's Edible Fruit Trees |
