Steve says... Hi, Should have read 'curl grubs'. Tree is about 8 to 12 months old, 12 to 14 inches tall, did not get frosteed or very very cold - typical Windsor/Sydney winter, it is protected from extreme weather with a fence and 5 ft trees either side, does get enough sun, is well drained and did not get too dry, was not over fertilised, ony gave fertiliser when leaves started to look limp. HappyEarth says... Is it flowering or sending out new shoots? Mostly likely root rot - an all too common problem with avocados. Rich www.happyearth.com.au | About the Author HappyEarth Wollongong 3rd September 2009 2:07pm #UserID: 2553 Posts: 181 View All HappyEarth's Edible Fruit Trees |

Brendan says... Hi baldrick, I must say I've never heard of anyone growing a Shepard avocado in a pot! They are not a dwaft tree, like the Wurtz & Rincon, or a semi-dwaft like the Pinkerton, but I suppose if the the pot is huge, it'll work. Good luck. Try giving your potted tree some gypsum & dolomite, that should help. (Go easy with it :-) Can it be planted in the ground? | About the Author Brendan Mackay, Q 10th September 2009 7:01am #UserID: 1947 Posts: 1722 View All Brendan's Edible Fruit Trees |
