Black Goji berry

Looking for any info in relation to growing and weed potential. Berries are actually blue and make a really crazy blue tea, with great potential for blue colouring in nearly any liquid(cocktails). Very easy germination, hence the worry about weed potential.

Hi Anthony

I don't think that Black Gojis would be any more invasive than the normal Lycium ones. In fact I have trouble getting seeds of Lycium ruthenicum murr to germinate down here at all. It shouldn't be due to the cold spell we're having now as they originate from Northern China and Russia which is much colder than here.

In fact you might not get enough chill in Qld for them to fruit well.

Anyway I would be interested to learn how you manage to germinate them so easily since I find them almost impossible. Cheers.

Hi Linton. Germination was 100% within4-5 days with little to no help. Planted whole Goji Berry and with 16 plants in 5 days I thought that was pretty good. Goji Berry soaked overnight and then sowed resulted in seedlings in 4 days. My biggest worry is whether plant will be invasive and cause a problem down the line, with birds etc. Make's a brilliant blue tea but I have no idea what fresh Black Goji tastes like.
