randey says... aneh, for me it is still too soon for them to ripen. my tree has about 50-60 fruit with about 2 months still to go. as you may know that when they do ripen they do so very quickly. so if you are looking for some fruit to eat and use for seeding i will announce it on the forum and you can take it from there. | About the Author randey perth 20th July 2009 2:47pm #UserID: 2306 Posts: 104 View All randey's Edible Fruit Trees |

amanda says... Hi Dekka - looks a bit sad.. :( strange after 3yrs tho' ? 6ºC is nowhere near frost. We had 2ºC the other night - there was certainly no frost. Frost would have settled on the top part first n those leaves ok. My first thought was to check the soil for bugs, fungi, waterlogging. Then I was thinking of liquid fertiliser application - have u done any lately? It's not a deficiency - it's an attack of some sort eg: phytophora or such (as it's dying from the bottom -> up) or mechanical damage (ie: to the roots by curl grubs for eg). What's that white webby looking thing I can see on the underside of the leaves on the right? | About the Author amanda19 Geraldton. HappyEarth says... I doubt it would be frost damage either - we have the occasional 2 degree nights and the black sapote is not bothered by them at all. I know of some black sapotes that grow in Bega and it gets pretty cool down there some nights. Not sure what the problem is though - give it some liquid seaweed and wait and see what happens. Dekka says... Thanks for your responses. The Black Sapote has had no fertiliser and I've had a good close look for any sign of pests. (Amanda, the webby thing was where a spider had laid her eggs.) It looks like frost burn but couldn't be, as I have other more sensitive plants that aren't effected. I'm starting to think maybe it is a fungal attack to roots like Phytophera. Any miracle cures out there for this? | About the Author Dekka Newcastle 7th August 2009 9:31am #UserID: 102 Posts: 219 View All Dekka's Edible Fruit Trees |
