Hi everyone,

It's been some time since I got to check this forum thanks to prolonged technology dramas! Just wondering if anyone can offer some info on the "Sunshine" and "Bonza" pears advertised in this winter's Dawsons catalogue? I understand they are low-chill but I'm curious to know more before making the decision to buy. Thank you!

I have asked the same questions myself.

The answer seems to be that nobody knows.

The best I get is maybe inferior to high chill but OK enough to eat.

Wandilla had them a couple years back. I know because jimmy said so in this forum in 2009 and google is good.

any idea which nursery they're coming out of? I'm finding nothing useful online

Thanks Jimmy & Brad (by the way, I did search for this before posting - must have been having a vague moment!). I did wonder if "Bonza" and "Sunshine" were marketing names and that's why it's hard to find more info.

Might give one a go anyway - we are not big pear eaters so self-pollinating is appealing.

The girlfriend & I were also wondering what Bonza and Sunshine would be like to grow and eat. So we're going to plant both. We'll toss a coin as to who gets which tree.
