Brendan says... Hi Heather, You're just up the road from me! I'd say your tree has Anthracnose. Mix 30grams of Copper Oxychloride, 30g Mancozeb Plus in 4½ litres of water, now the most important part, add a 'good' wetting agent, like Spreadmax to this brew. Spray the tree once a week for 3 to 4 weeks. After that, spray once a month. Don't spray this brew on 'open' flowers. If you must spray open flowers, leave out the copper oxychloride. I'd give it a dressing of sulphate of potash as well. Have you done a pH test of the soil? It might need some dolomite too. | About the Author Brendan Mackay, Q 12th August 2010 8:46am #UserID: 1947 Posts: 1722 View All Brendan's Edible Fruit Trees |

BJ says... I put my grafted canistel in the ground during the wet earlier this year. It put on a good amount of growth over the colder months, but it has shed every new leaf at a juvenile stage, leaving a bare stems between the old leaves and the new leaves that are just unfloding from the growing tips. It is in a northerly facing site - full sun til around 3pm, a bit exposed to wind, quite well drained area (large raised area of lawn). Does anyone have any idea what might be the problem? | About the Author Theposterformerlyknownas Brisbane 14th October 2011 3:05pm #UserID: 3270 Posts: 1552 View All Theposterformerlyknownas's Edible Fruit Trees |
John Mc says... Mine's the same BJ, I can't offer you any advice only sympathy mate. I repotted mine up into a bonzai bag and moved it into the poly house till it recovers. We've had a lot of rain here together with an unusual long cool weather and everythings absolutely saturated. I've lost a few gems that have been planted in the last 12 months. I thought my land had enough slope for the water to get away. The more mature plants are doing fine. | About the Author JohnMc1 Warnervale NSW 14th October 2011 9:12pm #UserID: 2743 Posts: 2043 View All JohnMc1's Edible Fruit Trees |
