I bought a viet dragon fruit from Daley a few month ago. It does not grow at all. As it is the first time I grow dragon fruit, I don't know if it likes fun sun or a lot of water. Looking for tips on how to grow it. Thanks

Usually needs time before it kicks off.
Full sun is fine, rarely water, thrives on being ignored.

In contrast to ive (sorry ive),I tend to keep mine well watered, they are a rainforest vine after all. At that young stage you could throw any fertilizer you have in the shed on it to get it bulked up, don't overdo it.
If this is the first time you've grown a dragon fruit plant, remember to remove all side shoots as it grows up to the top of a 4ft pole then let it hang over and then let it do it's thang. All those side shoots can be easily propagated.

Nothing to be sorry about John.
I have always treated them as a cactus, didn't want to over do it, doesn't seem to have affected them.
Always open to any improvement.

Hi Thithi

The large Viet Dragonfruits are commercially cultivated in Vietnam mostly along the South Central coast around Phan Thiet - I'm sure you know it.

There they are grown in extensive areas of dry sand near the beach and are never watered and I guess it only rains in the wet season.

I would imagine that the sand has a high salt content as well being right next to the beach. So "dry" and "sandy" in full sun would seem what these type of dragon fruits like the best. Cheers!

It's a fungal infection probably anthracnose. You need to cut away the affected area with a knife--don't worry, as long as the internal skeleton remains unsevered, this will not affect the health of the plant.

The red spot seem to stop spreading atm. I think I wait for the side growth to develop before I cut it off. Thanks sternus.
Btw, do you think star Apple like full sun? The juicy pearl has not recovered from the transport trip yet. My other star Apple haitian lost half of its leaves since I got it fr Daley approx 1m ago. Not sure why?

Definitely don't put it in full sun for a long time. Grow it in shade until it has a trunk diameter of about one week.

You also need to give it seasol.

The Vietmanese pink/white started flowering a week ago here, about a dozen buds so far. One thing I like about these, if I see a dozen buds, I will get a dozen fruit.
