Mike says... http://www.acaipalmseeds.com/acai-seeds/growacaiberries/ Max is 6m compared 30m for the normal one. Some references say 3m max.I planted some white acai and dwarf para a couple of days ago. | About the Author 8th March 2013 4:22pm #UserID: 5418 Posts: 1438 View All 's Edible Fruit Trees |
trikus says... Mike , would not trust any info from that site .. fruit in 3 years ! no way .. 3 years from planting out an advanced seedling ..at 3m would have very little trunk . I know some very mature trees around here in the wet tropics that still have not fruited . info on my link from a mate who lives in Manaus . Not someone who is trying to sell seeds . | About the Author Trikus 8th March 2013 5:08pm #UserID: 930 Posts: 749 View All Trikus's Edible Fruit Trees |
Mike says... http://www.skyfieldtropical.com/encyclopedia/assai/ Trikus this is a more reliable source.I was told the normal ones are not worthwhile for many reason with the white acai and para dwarf well worthwhile. | About the Author 8th March 2013 6:31pm #UserID: 5418 Posts: 1438 View All 's Edible Fruit Trees |
trikus says... Cultivars Few named cultivars exist, and varieties differ mostly in the nature of the fruit: 'Branco' is a rare variety local to the Amazon estuary in which the berries do not change color but remain green when ripe. This is believed to be due to a recessive gene since of 'Branco' palm seeds only about 30% mature to express this trait. It has less iron and antioxidants but more oil and many believe it to have a superior taste and digestability to purple açaí.[9] | About the Author Trikus 8th March 2013 7:22pm #UserID: 930 Posts: 749 View All Trikus's Edible Fruit Trees |

Mike says... trikus it is the second elite variety. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A%C3%A7a%C3%AD_Palm Look at the bit on varieties. If the 3 or 4 years to fruit for the dwarf is not true someone should alert all the references. | About the Author 8th March 2013 7:30pm #UserID: 5418 Posts: 1438 View All 's Edible Fruit Trees |
trikus says... My Para Dwarf has been planted for 3 years , and was an advanced seedling 2m + tall when planted . Just heard from a grower in Fiji who has got his first crop in 6 years from seed. Maybe in ideal Amazon growing conditions it is possible for fruit in 3 years from seed , but even in wet tropical Tully I am still waiting , but not for much longer I am hoping . | About the Author Trikus 10th March 2013 12:12pm #UserID: 930 Posts: 749 View All Trikus's Edible Fruit Trees |
