grandfather beans

    3 responses

Bob starts with ...
I used to grow a bean that we called Grandfather beans, no idea if that is the proper name. The pod is 30cm plus long containing maroon coloured beans bigger and fatter than Lima beans. The dry weather wiped out my plants. Went to the backup seed and found some bug had destroyed them. Does anybody know what I am talking about or more to the point does anybody know where I can get some seeds.

not scarlet runner. Attractive scarlet flowers. Black and purple seeds. seem to remember from somewhere that scarlet runners may not set seed in the tropics. I used to get bumper crops, when the plants got water.

I'm sorry I can't help you, but Eden Seeds has a large range of beans, with descriptions. Maybe you can find it there. Another company is Phoenix Seeds - you could try them.
