Sorry to see your tree looking so sick, vince.

Do I see a lot of vegetation at its feet? Are they in the same pot? Perhaps it does not like sharing.

You need to get onto a website www.gardeningknowhow.com and punch in plant deficiencies:leaves turning purple.A very good site to learn about all plant problems. I hope this is of some help.

Purple leaves in many plants are caused by phosphorous deficiency. But your guava looks as though it needs a few other elements as well - it does look very sick.

What have you been feeding it?

Tropical Guavas get a purple discolouration on their leaves if there's cold weather - they recover when it's warm again. There are purple leaved varieties too, but they're uncommon.

Dont worry Vince - Guavas can be semi deciduous in colder climates - my Indian nearly lost all its leaves but hawaian guava not so bad but is growing back now - Your plant looks good (how old?)and how many winters has it seen as if it si its first has grown very well - I had flowers on my HG last year but they fell off but my Strawb Guava now starting to flower first time - all mine are in pots and are only a year old
