Cain starts with ... Hi, we were clearing out some room for a cubby house for the kids and found this plant in amongst some others and underneath another really big tree. A few people have said that it looks like it could be a Fig. It is currently about 2m tall, but looks quite leggy - not a lot of foilage, but it is growing in a very shady position. Thanks, Cain

amanda says... Personally - I would take a cutting and grow it up first Cain? Then post a pic back here when it's off and running. I could be wrong but I suspect it has a viral infection. Regardless - the stems are spindly and not a good foundation for a fruit tree..U may as well buy a strong and healthy plant and start again. It could, however, be something 'different' maybe...there are a lot of very old fig trees in Perth. What suburb are u in? i would keep the cutting in the place u intend to grow this fig tree..it may not do well there...and at least it hasn't cost u anything? I never plant sick or doubtful fruit trees in the ground - that I want to grow up to be healthy and strong. It can be a waste of time and water over a a fair few years. | About the Author amanda Geraldton, 400km North of Perth 3rd February 2012 1:19am #UserID: 2309 Posts: View All amanda's Edible Fruit Trees |
