Does anyone know whether jakfruit can grow in Sydney taking into account the winter season?

Yes, a nursery at Wallacia (now defunct) had one growing . How much care was lavished on it ,I don't know but it helped to sell Jackfruit plants to sceptical punters.

hi Ardy... Jakfruit will certainly grow in most areas of sydney - give it a good spot and it will produce good fruit as well. I have a 'black gold' jakfruit here in Wollongong and its looking as good as any other tree ive planted at my place.

Hope this helps :)

Hi Kert and Rich,

Thanks for the replies. Just wondering when you said give it a good spot, what sort of location should i have to choose to plant it?

Does the Jakfruit tree require a lot of sun? what other consideration do I need to take when planting this tree?

also, have you had any luck with planting paw paw or papaya?

My Jack. hasn't fruited yet,as it might be too close to the road ,which might be causing the air to be too dry.
I'll try to sometime get some more mulch around it,after the council ********* ripped up all the mulch that I put around it.
