Don starts with ... We want to grow a shade tree in our back yard that we can underplant with Bromilliades, Clivias etc. We have an area about 5 metres diameter and would like a height of about 4 metres. The area is bounded on two sides, one with concrete driveway, the opposite side with a concrete block retaining wall.We wonder if the Kwan Mango tree would be suitable. We love the look of the tree but wonder if the roots would be too invasive on the driveway and retaining wall. Peter says... Peter again! You can plant a mango tree, The good thing is that you can prune the tree again and again and keep it at a certain size. Keeping it on a certain size means also that the roots are checked and kept short. Tell me where you get a Kwan and may be I could find a Van Dyke mango tree and a Strawberry mango tree on that place. (Both are as well disease resistant and would be an other choice for you.
