Virginia starts with ... Leaf attack on peach and nectarine trees: New shoots appear to be chewed off and a sticky resin-like substance develops on the site. Almost all new shoots are affected. I was told it was caused by the oriental moth and could only be treated with chemicals, which then cause an outbreak of spider mite. What organic action can I take to solve the problem? Correy says... I had a bit of a look around the internet and there are some products on the market that are pheromone-based meaning they put out an odour that stops the male oriental fruit moth from knowing which female moths are ready for breading. Here is an example http://www.suterra.com/mating_disruption/Oriental_Fruit_Moth/CheckMate_OFM-F/ So this one is not going to kill beneficial parasites and preditors which may cause an outbreak of something else. I don't think it is totally organic but appears to be better then normal pesticide.
