Lemon myrtle

We live in a fairly temperate area in South west sydney, I have planted a small lemon myrtle tree which seems to be doing really well. But I am concerned we may have planted it too close to the fence, are you able to give me an indication of how big this might get in our area (some light frost in winter) and also how far it should be from the fence? I feel if we need to relocate it, it should be soon. Thanks so much!

Hi BethB.

Lemon Myrtles grow from 3-6m so yes they are quite a big tree. Of course you can control the size by cutting it back and training it to grow in a certain direction away from the fence this just takes good timing by cutting of the branches that form towards the fence. I am not sure how old and how established it is but if it is just recently planted moving it should not be too much of a problem. Good luck :)

Thank you so much for the response. Yes I have decided the tree is definitely too close to the fence and will need to be moved but I think I will wait until Autumn and it is a bit cooler to do so. Is it true Lemon Myrtles can grow in large pots?!

Thanks again!
