Mike says... I think it is not usual for NDM to fruit all year round or to have multiple fruiting events.Sam ru du and choc anon have these characteristics but not NDM.They are actually pretty good a little green or hard green as a green eating mango. They are of excellent quality but the sweetness does not agree with everyone. Many prefer the acid/sugar balance of KP.This mildness and sweetness is a feature of most popular thai types. | About the Author Cairns 19th September 2012 8:35pm #UserID: 5418 Posts: 1438 View All 's Edible Fruit Trees |

Brain says... I have a Nam Doc Mai purchased from Daley. My tree this year did flower twice, 1 month apart. In Brisbane this year, towards the end of winter, there was a 2 week period where it got quite warm and the NDM flowered a little but no fruit and then it also got cold. Right now, it has massive blooms and hopefully some fruit. Based on the observation, I suspect that the NDM will flower if the conditions are correct and if no fruit managed to set it will try again later. This reminded me of reading where mango farmers will deliberately kill off flower buds early in the season and wait for the next flowers (at better conditiosn) to delay fruit set. But I will agree that NDM will only produce one crop per year. However, maybe in select climates, i.e. warm and humid all year round, that the NDM might continuously flower. | About the Author Brain Brisbane 19th October 2012 4:17pm #UserID: 6289 Posts: 638 View All Brain's Edible Fruit Trees |
