Al says... It should do Jim providing that it is 1. warm enough to regrow quickly and 2. you can protect the stem, which is hollow, from rotting in wet weather (some put a tin or other water-tight container over the stump). Might be best to wait a month until some warmth comes on. Also, maybe think about getting some seedling replacements going in a warm spot in pots as extras/insurance. I've chopped tall pawa paws before but found new plants to be more vigorous, especially as they grow so fast. Good luck!!
