Gday Jon,

Most fruit trees will fruit in partial shade but just not as well. For true partial shade/shade tolerant fruit trees look into:

tamarillo
naranjilla
miracle fruit
pitaya
rose apple
raisin tree
sea grape

The Beach Cherry does best in part shade but will tolerate full sun if given enough water. It is native to QLD and has superb tasting fruits.

I recommend it.

I heard recently from a very knowledgeable mate from Guatemala that Canistel is an understorey tree ..mmmm maybe thats why some do not bear as well when they are out in full sun . I have planted mine on the edge of a gully and put a solitary Fishtail for protection until the Durians and Jakfruit get up .My Mum has a superior grafted Canistel in Childers , cv. Aurea ?
