Does anyone know what this is? I usually discard fruit seeds around my yard in leftovers etc, this was growing below a white sapote of mine, doesn't look like the average garden weed.

Any help will be appreciated.

Is it worth attempting to dig out and save/transplant? Or should I just pull it as it's going to disturb my white sapote's growth? Either way I doubt they can grow that close to each other, and I value the white sapote more.

I must have discarded a seed there some time ago, but I definitely don't remember.

Avocado seeds are quite easy to germinate if you want to go down that road. Personally, I have seen too many second-rate trees grown from seed - low fruit to seed ratio, small fruit etc.

They are also slow to fruit, taking up to seven years, whereas a grafted variety can fruit in four.

I wouldn't want to fertilise, mulch and water a tree that ended up being disappointing, but that's just my opinion.

Well done on grafting avos Markmelb I have tried grafting avos many times and failed every time. Would you recommend grafting now or wait for spring.
