waj starts with ... I have a three way grafted plum tree, about 10 years old. One of the grafts is very vigorous but also does not produce a significant amount of fruit. I am thinking of removing that graft by cutting it off with a saw during the dormant period. The remaining two grafts produce well. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience? Thank you. | About the Author waj Highgate, SA 22nd January 2016 3:41pm #UserID: 10153 Posts: 4 View All waj's Edible Fruit Trees |
allybanana says... Do you know what your varieties are? it would be a pity if you cut an essential pollinator, however if both the remaining plums flower at the same time they should be able to pollinate each other. w=When cutting off the wood cut it like any large pruning cut, cut the branch stump off as short as possible, paint with pruning paint. | About the Author allybanana EDEN, NSW 24th January 2016 9:52pm #UserID: 4544 Posts: 372 View All allybanana's Edible Fruit Trees |
