Can the sandpaper fig tolerate being fully sumerged. We have a low lying are which is usually dry but afer very heavy rain a nearby swamp fills and water rises, sometimes up to 1.5 meters, and can take up to 2 weeks to subside. We have a river red gum, lemon scented gums and black wattle trees in this area which have survived. Tree is still in pot as deciding where to plant it

I have seen sandpaper figs growing right next to a creek where the soil is wet. I say give it a go. If you have somewhere better that doesnt get too dry either, all the better.

I have a ficus coronata growing in very marshy position (though never flooding) and it is booming. This species is the most water-loving, but i'm sure opposita and fraseri are both similar. The other sandpaper fig species may be less suitable.
