BenW says... I have a Bacon growing quite well in the Kinglake ranges where it gets snow and -5 degree frosts (rarely) but no fruit yet. I also have a Shepard going quite well and the cold hasn't bothered it, even though it is quite small. A Reed failed, due to wombat rather than cold. I have also been looking for bacon seeds to grow as rootstock to try other varieties. Maybe I'll have my own this year :) Failing that, I had a good suggestion on the weekend. There should be Reed avocados in the shops soon, and they should be more than cold tolerant enough to use. The same guy had Mexicola growing but sadly I didn't get his details... | About the Author BenW Kinglake West,3757,VIC 5th August 2015 11:11am #UserID: 5390 Posts: 144 View All BenW's Edible Fruit Trees |
