Hi,
I have recently moved to a new house and it has this tree in the backyard. I have no idea what it is, any ideas as to what it may be?

Cheers
Linda

Hmmm might that be some seedling plum apricot perhaps ? Seed looks more like a apricot kernel than a plum seed. You should net a few to stop the fly and see what it matures to.

I am settling on a green gauge apricot cross seedling. Something new !!!!
Tell us how it goes taste wise.

I think it is a Japanese or Chinese Plum. But my fruits never have the protruding bits; they are all round.

I agree with Troy - it reminds me of a Kelsey plum (if they are the one's that are sort of lime-green when ripe also?)

Thanks all for your reponses. They are lime green when ripe but tend to go a little red also when ripe. They are delicious though.

Hi
..was the previous resident from Hong Kong? I recall these fruits, I'm pretty sure they go yellow when ripe. They are used in Chinese New Year Celebrations and placed around the house.Solanum Mammosum is its latin name
BTW, it is poisonous

Actually I was referring to the Boobie Fruit, also know as Nipple-Licious or Titty Fruit. Now That I have seen the leaves close up I dont think it is the same as yours

Well spotted Mike, thanks. I've been nurturing this thing for two years. Had any experience with them? Google pics make the fruit out to be quite small.

Oh well, looks like it's one less to water every day. The flowers are impressive, if a little small. Need to find an area under tree canopy and damp and let her go.
