wanchan021 starts with ... I ordered the Dwarf Plum Gulf Gold Tree (G) (Pot: 2.5L; Height: 60-70cm) back in April. I planted plum into the ground and it was growing well even flowering as shown in the attachments. Today nothing is left on the branch as shown in the picture in the attachments. The plant looks like when I first received it from Daleys Nursery. Any idea what has gone wrong? At the time, I ordered 2 plants, one for myself and the second plant for a friend. Hers plant is healthy and growing very well with green leaves while mine is a miserable looking stick!!!

David01 says... Hi wanchan021, It seems the second one is dying. Just dig up the soil of the second one to see whether it still alive. i.e. if the root system and by scratching the stem to see there still has a sign of living. Then I suggest put it in 250mm pot filled with potting mix and no fertilizer until new grow appear and water well. Leave the pot under the shade for a few months to see whether it will recover. David01 says... Hi wanchan021, The root ball looks okay but it is hard to determine the plant is still alive or dead until you scratch the bark to see whether it is green. Regardless what you see, you may save the plant as instructions below: 1. Dip the root ball in a bucket of tap water for 10 minutes to remove all excess fertilizer or soil. 2. Re pot as in previous suggestion 3. Cut short the trunk to half length above the graft union to reduce the stress on root system. 4. If possible cover the top clear plastic bag to avoid the trunk get dried out and put it under shade for couple months. Good luck.
